In most cases, yes—you can use your HSA or FSA funds to purchase prescription safety glasses because they’re considered a qualified medical expense when they correct your vision. Non-prescription protective eyewear typically doesn’t qualify, so make sure your glasses include a valid prescription.

Because insurance plan rules can vary, it’s always best to confirm eligibility with the administrator of your HSA or FSA before buying and to keep your prescription and receipt in case documentation is required.

Our prescription safety glasses are tested under ANSI Z87.1 standards to make sure they offer reliable protection. Testing includes high-velocity and high-mass impact tests to confirm the lenses and frames won’t shatter on impact.

They also undergo optical clarity testing to ensure distortion-free vision, UV protection testing to verify they block harmful rays, and coverage assessments to check for adequate side and brow protection. Only glasses that pass all required tests receive the ANSI Z87.1 marking.

It depends on your workplace and the safety requirements of your job. OSHA requires employers to provide protective eyewear when hazards are present, but they’re not always required to cover the cost of prescription safety glasses.

Some employers fully pay for them, while others offer partial reimbursement or a stipend. If standard non-prescription safety glasses meet safety requirements, employers may only need to supply those. Check your company’s safety policies or talk with HR to see what coverage is offered.
